Everything You Need to Know About Lisa Kiely Fitness & Travel — And Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Join
Fitness & Wellness | Travel | Personal Growth
Let me share an observation with you.
I think most fitness websites look the same. Stock photos of twenty-somethings in spotless athleisure. Promises of six-week transformations. A lot of talk about what your body “should” look like.
This is not that.
Lisa Kiely Fitness & Travel exists for one reason: to help people over 40 build a body that feels genuinely “good” to live in — and then use that body to go somewhere extraordinary.
If you've landed here, something brought you. Maybe you've been thinking about getting stronger. Maybe you've got a trip on the horizon and you want to actually “enjoy” it — not just survive it. Maybe you're just ready to do something that's entirely, unapologetically yours.
Whatever it is, you're in the right place. Let me show you around.
First, a Little Bit About Me
I'm Lisa Kiely — certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and gerontologist. That last part matters more than it might sound.
Gerontology is the study of aging — how the body changes, what it needs, and how to help it thrive at every stage of life. I've spent over 35 years working in that space: leading wellness programs at Life Plan Communities, serving as an Associate Executive Director at the Cowart Family YMCA, consulting on whole-person wellness programs across the country.
All of that led me here. In 2018, I founded Lisa Kiely Fitness & Travel around a simple idea: “get strong enough to go anywhere. Then go.”
I'm also a Certified Master Naturalist, which means I believe with my whole heart that the best classroom is outside, with your feet on real ground. That belief shapes everything I teach.
I work mostly with people over 40 — women and men who are done with fitness that treats them like they're still 25, and ready for an approach that actually meets them where they are. My clients don't just get stronger. They travel farther. They move more freely. They stop saying "I can't do that" and start saying "let's go."
That's the goal. That's always the goal.
What We Do Here — A Full Tour
1) Live Zoom Fitness Classes
Three times a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30am EST — I lead live fitness classes via Zoom that are genuinely unlike anything else you'll find online.
Strength in Motion goes deep into resistance training — bands, light weights, and bodyweight — building the functional strength that matters for everyday life and real travel. This is the class that makes people say, “I can't believe what my body can do now.”
Classes are designed for people over 40. Joint-friendly. Injury-aware. Demanding in the best possible way. And there's a community here — real people showing up three mornings a week, pushing each other, laughing, doing the work.
“Lisa is not only a passionate, experienced, and amazing fitness expert, but she is also an authentic and compassionate person, which makes her instruction so welcoming and enjoyable. Her classes are convenient and offer a nice challenge, yet are adaptable for everyone!”— Holly

2. The On-Demand Video Library
Can't make it Monday at 8:30? Your life has a schedule of its own — and so does your membership.
The on-demand video library is your 24/7 fitness resource. Every class I teach, organized and waiting for you: F.I.T. sessions, Strength in Motion workouts, Arms Abs & Balance, and Train to Travel™ classes — all streamable from any device, from anywhere in the world.
Stream from your living room. From your hotel room in Portugal. From your daughter's guest room at Thanksgiving. The library travels with you.
Membership is $90 for six months — that's $15 a month — or $170 for a full year. Every membership includes one complimentary live Zoom class every six months, so you can experience the real-time coaching and community alongside your on-demand workouts.
"Since committing to Lisa's class, I can see such a difference in my balance, core, strength, and posture. I love her approachable, convenient, disciplined, FUN, advanced workout — it's truly been a major sanity saver. — Katie

3. Train to Travel™
Here's what nobody talks about: real travel is “physical”.
The cobblestone streets of San Miguel de Allende. The altitude of a monarch butterfly sanctuary. The long, glorious days that ask everything of your body — the lifting, hovering, climbing, walking, standing in line at the world's most magnificent museum for longer than you planned. Real travel demands a body that's ready for it.
Train to Travel™ is one of my signature programs, built around six pillars that directly translate to travel fitness:
Lung Capacity— so altitude doesn't steal your experience before it begins
Balance & Stability— so you walk cobblestones with confidence, not white knuckles
Leg Strength— because squats are, genuinely, travel preparation
Upper Body Strength— for your bag, the overhead bin, and the cobblestone stairs at your hotel
Endurance— for the market mornings, the afternoon ruins, and the long walk to dinner
Mental Confidence— because physical strength builds mental strength, and the people who train show up bolder
This isn't about being an athlete. It's about being “ready”.
Ready to go anywhere, do anything, and come home wanting to go back.

4. Active Travel Experiences — Come with Me
This is where it all comes together.
I lead small-group active travel experiences to some of the most remarkable places in the world. Right now, that means Mexico — San Miguel de Allende, the monarch butterfly sanctuaries of Michoacán, the extraordinary cultural richness of a country that rewards the curious and the capable.
These are not passive tours. These are “experiences”— physical, cultural, delicious, and surprising. Small groups, never more than ten travelers. Curated accommodations full of local character. Daily movement built into the itinerary because it belongs there, not because I scheduled it. And me — your fitness coach, your guide, and the person who has made every rookie mistake in Mexico so you don't have to.
I've walked those cobblestones. I know the altitude. I know which hills are worth it and which restaurants will change your life and which moments you'll be telling people about for years. I want you there for all of it.
And because I'm your fitness coach first? You'll arrive ready.
"Go somewhere that changes you. Not the kind of trip where you come home needing a vacation. The kind where you come home different — stronger, lighter, more alive."
That's what I'm building for you. Every class, every session, every trip.

5. Personal Training
Sometimes you need more than a group class. A specific goal. An injury you're working around. A trip coming up faster than you expected. Or simply the focused attention of a trainer who's building a program just for you.
I offer personal training sessions — one-on-one, customized to your body and your goals. Whether you're starting from scratch, rebuilding after a setback, or training for something specific, personal training is where we go deep.

The Question I Get Asked Most
“Is this right for me? I'm not very fit. I haven't exercised in a while. I have a bad knee / bad shoulder / general distrust of my body."
Here is my honest answer: yes. Especially if any of that is true.
My classes are designed for real bodies living real lives. I know how bodies over 40 work — biologically, mechanically, emotionally — because that's literally what I studied. Joint-friendly doesn't mean easy. Injury-aware doesn't mean you won't be challenged. It means every single movement has a purpose, and I'm watching out for you while you do it.
The people who walk away from my classes with the most dramatic changes are often the people who walked in the most hesitant. That's not an accident. That's the design.
Why Now?
Because there is no better version of this waiting for you on the other side of "someday."
The trip you're thinking about — it's going to happen eventually. The question is whether your body will let you enjoy it fully, or whether you'll spend half of it wishing you'd prepared.
The strength you want — it doesn't come from thinking about it. It comes from three mornings a week at 8:30am. It comes from pressing play on the on-demand library when you have twenty minutes and a clear floor. It comes from deciding, once, that you're worth the thirty minutes.
People over 40 are not slowing down. They're being smarter. Choosing better. Building bodies that work “with” them instead of against them.
That's what we do here. And there's a community of people here doing it alongside you.
